Dear Colleague, I am writing to you personally because you recently took a quick look at the OBEC 2026 program. I’ll be honest: organizing a high-level course today feels like a constant uphill battle. This course has existed for 13 years, and back then, gathering interest and participation was easy. Today, between soaring flight costs, global instability, and a professional world that often prefers "quick tips" over a deep understanding of biomechanics, keeping the bar high is a challenge. This year, I decided to push back by creating a Scientific Grant System based on local GDP. My goal is simple, even if the world makes it complicated: I want to try, within our limited means, to lower the geographical and economic borders that often stop talent and passion. The barriers remain, but we can try to lower them just a bit. The Professional Solidarity Mechanism:
To kickstart this initiative, IOSS has personally provided an initial fund of 20,000 CHF. The system then relies on direct redistribution: if your country's GDP does not qualify you for a grant, 25% of your standard tuition fee is automatically added to this fund. If you qualify for a minor grant (under 25%), the difference is allocated to the fund. In short: if you reside in a high-income country, your participation directly sponsors a colleague from a less privileged economy. IMPORTANT: We have allocated an initial budget of 20,000 CHF for these grants. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and as of April 2nd, we have already assigned 60% of the available funds. This budget may be increased through our solidarity mechanism, but this is not guaranteed. We advise you not to delay your inquiry, as the remaining funds are being rapidly exhausted.
